The role of an external administrator can vary depending on the circumstances, but typically involves the oversight of company's assets, managing its finances, and working to resolve any outstanding debts or legal issues. This may involve, without limit, negotiating with creditors, restructuring the company's operations and other administrative duties.
External administrators may be accountants, lawyers, insolvency practitioners, or other professionals with expertise in managing financially troubled companies. They are typically appointed in situations where the existing management of a company is unable to effectively address important company affairs and are tasked as far as possible with helping to facilitate a turnaround. Panos Eliades appointment by proxy as administrator is outside the Insolvency Act.
